Had a philosophy paper due today, and I thought it'd create an interesting blog post.
I was pondering my thought process of the things I do, whether it be my own authentic desires, conformity, expectations from others or falsehoods. Then when I created my list of authentic desires I began to understand my true feelings and not just the one’s of my public image. We all see ourselves than what we are perceived as by others, why that is I do not know, but I do not think that it will stop in the foreseeable future. I see this lasting through the existence of mankind because much like the United States government, we care more about foreign affairs than our own domestic problems. And why that is, I also do not know. Catering to others before ourselves is not my opinion of the best course of action, yes… we should care, protect and help others, but if it destroys us is it worth the sacrifice? Some would respond, yes… and their reasoning might be that if we did not take care of each other, we would ultimately fail as a species, I would respond with that is true, but the more cases in which we bail out others, we give up another piece of ourselves. And please do not misconstrue this as me saying we should not help anybody under any circumstance because that is not what I am saying. My intentions are pure, and I always will support coming to the aid of the helpless, but like the cliché says, give a man a fish… feed him for a day, teach a man to fish… feed him for a lifetime.
